HUBUNGAN KEYAKINAN DIRI DENGAN PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK MAHASISWA

This research stems from the observation that students frequently postpone the initiation and completion of tasks, often becoming distracted by online games or social media. The study highlights a prevalent issue of low self-confidence among students, which manifests as an inability to confront challenging situations, solve emerging problems, and pursue desired goals. The primary aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between self-confidence and academic procrastination, specifically examining how significantly self-confidence impacts academic procrastination among counseling guidance students at Sjech M. Djambek Bukittinggi State Islamic University. Employing a correlational method with a quantitative approach, this study focuses on a population of 541 active students enrolled in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program within the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Sciences at Sjech M. Djambek Bukittinggi State Islamic University, from which a sample of 75 students was selected. Data was collected using questionnaires, and the hypotheses were tested through simple linear regression, correlation tests, and determination coefficients. The findings indicate a significant negative influence of -0. 685 between self-confidence and procrastination. This outcome, derived from the correlation test calculations, suggests a strong relationship, identified within the coefficient interval of 0. 600 to 0. 799, and is accompanied by a significance value of.
