HUBUNGAN POLA ASUH ORANG TUA DENGAN PERKEMBANGAN KOGNITIF ANAK DI TK ISLAM DARUL HIKMAH KECAMATAN LUBUK SIKAPING

This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting styles and cognitive development in children at Darul Hikmah Islamic Kindergarten in Lubuk Sikaping District. Problems found in the field indicate variations in parenting styles applied by parents to children aged 4-6 years, ranging from authoritarian, permissive, to democratic parenting styles, which have an impact on children's cognitive development. This study is a quantitative correlational study. The sampling technique used in this study is total sampling. The population of this study consists of all parents of kindergarten children, totaling 40 pairs of parents. The data collection instrument is a closed questionnaire analyzed using normality, linearity, and product moment correlation tests. The results of the study show a significant relationship between parenting styles and children's cognitive development with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.881 (88.1%), which means there is a very strong relationship. It can be concluded that the better the parenting style applied by parents, the more optimal the cognitive development of children aged 4-6 years will be.
