Abstrak

The research was conducted to test the effect of the Point Counterpoint method  the critical thinking skills of grade VII students in the Qur'an Hadith subject at the Diniyah Limo Jurai Boarding Islamic School. The background of study revealed the problems of learning that is still centered on the teacher, lack of variation in methods, low critical thinking skills of students, and students' boredom with the subject. The research method used was a quasi-experiment desain Posttest-Only Design with Nonequifalent Groups on 52 grade VII students (26 students in the experimental class and 26 students in the control class) who were selected randomly. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and hipotesis tests with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed a significance value of the T test of 0.000 <0.05, and the increase in critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class was relatively high. In conclusion, the Point Counterpoint learning method has a effect on students' critical thinking the Qur'an Hadith subject in grade VII of the Diniyah Limo Jurai Islamic Boarding School.
