Abstrak

Change management is a strategic process that is highly needed by Islamic educational institutions to remain relevant amid the era of technological disruption, Society 5.0, and globalization. This paper discusses the concept of change in Islamic educational organizations, Islamic leadership strategies in facing change, the obstacles faced and how to overcome them, as well as real case studies of the transformation of Islamic educational institutions towards modernization. This study uses a literature review approach by integrating modern organizational theories such as Kurt Lewin’s Change Theory and John P. Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model with Islamic values (tawhid, shura, amanah, and adl). The results show that change must start from within, be based on Qur’anic verses and Hadiths, and be led by visionary and transformational leadership. The case study of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor proves that transformation towards modernization can be successful if carried out gradually, participatively, and while maintaining core Islamic values. This paper is expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions for managers of Islamic educational institutions in implementing effective change management.
